Every day, thousands of lives depend on the proper installation and operation of medical gas systems. The medical gas system can literally be a patient's lifeline, supplying medical (breathing) air, nitrous oxide for anesthesia and pure oxygen.
Even a slight mix-up in medical gas piping can have tragic results, which is why all medical gas piping installers should be experienced craftsmen or craftswomen with proper training and certification.

The medical gas piping certification programs test competency levels of United Association technicians in cleaning, installation and brazing standards
* These UA-certified installers receive at least 40 hours of instruction on medical gas installation methods and maintenance techniques, and that's above and beyond the 54 hours of gas piping training in the traditional five-year course that every journeyman has completed
* Hospitals, medical offices, clinics, and dental offices depend on UA certified technicians and affiliated contractors to build and service medical gas systems so they operate dependably and protect patient health.
* Contractors hiring UA technicians officially certified by the American Medical Gas Institute (AMGI) or the Piping Industry Progress and Education Trust Fund (P.I.P.E.) can be assured that these installers are professionals who will do the job right, with the health and safety of patients as their top priority.
* When proper service or installation of medical gas systems could mean the difference between a patient living and dying - who wouldn't insist on the very best?
